 In 1971, a few visionary men saw a need for a specialized rescue team in Washoe County. Through much hard work and years of training and organization, the Hasty Team was formed.

The Hasty Team is responsible for technical rescues that require the greatest level of skill, expertise and special equipment. Rescue ability includes aircraft accidents/incidents, swift-water and open-water rescue, dive rescue and recovery, confined space rescue, mine rescue, high and low angle rescue (mountain and structure) and avalanche rescue. Also included in this group are our search dogs and trainers and Technical Mantrackers.  See the "Hasty Team Capabilities" link below for more information on what we do.

Because of the levels of difficulty and the amount of continued training required for each discipline, many members of the Hasty Team limit their activity to just one or two of the rescue applications mentioned. The Hasty Team is a very active, highly trained and highly motivated volunteer group.

How to Become a Member

Think you'd enjoy high-angle rescue, swiftwater and helo lifesaving, Public Safety Diving, Avalanche Rescue, Techincal Mantracking, Search Dogs, and other rigorous training with a high-profile, highly trained search and rescue team in the Reno area, please come to one of our meetings. 

Our meeting / trainings are held every Thursday evening and often we hold additional training on Saturdays or Sundays.  We try to record the training locations and times on our voice mail system by 12:00 noon each Thursday.  Please call that number each week for updated training info.  If you do not get the information you need, please e-mail us at: Washoe County Sheriff's Hasty Team
