The Animal Rescue Team was organized by the Washoe County Sheriff's Office with the Nevada Humane Society - Reno, Washoe County Animal Control, Reno Animal Control and Sparks Animal Control. The team was formed in response to large wildland fires that threatened homes, zoos, and animal shelters. The team is made up of professional animal control people, well trained volunteers and local veterinarians. The team stands ready to respond to assist in the evacuation and rescue of animals in event of a natural or man made disaster.
Many of the problems of moving bears, lions, tigers, monkeys, wolves, horses, sheep, llamas, etc. have been solved thanks to these dedicated and ingenius people.
