Schools Out for Summer
Summer Food Drive – From May - August
MISD children will be out of school soon enjoying the summer. For those on the school food program during the school year, the summer could be a time of skipped meals for many of these kids. The Society of Samaritans experiences a huge increase of clients during this time that the pantry is in short supply. We would like to bring community awareness of this need to all the great folks who support the pantry during the holiday season. We have listed items below as a guideline of great ideas for KID FRIENDLY foods.
Macaroni & Cheese Peanut Butter & Jelly Spaghetti O’s Ramen Noodles Beef Raviolio’s Oatmeal or Malt O Meal Kool-Aid & Sugar Canned or Bottled Juice Crackers, Chips Jello, Pudding & Fruit Cups Freezer Pops (not frozen yet) | Canned Tuna, Chicken & Spam Vienna Sausages Beans & Franks Canned Fruit Dried Beans & Rice Spaghetti Sauce w/Meat Pasta Breakfast Cereal Hamburger Helper Tuna Helper Chicken Helper |
Magnolia Baseball kicked off the first annual summer food drive by hosting a CONTEST to see which team could bring in the most food during the Closing Ceremonies on May 25, 2010. We hope to continue this new special project each year.
Over 3180 items were collected and divered to the food pantry following the ceremonies and COMPLETELY FILLED EMPTY SHEVLES!
Thanks Magnolia Baseball!!!
The food drive will run through the summer months with drop off locations listed here and on facebook.
