Snow Globes are a fun and easy holiday craft idea for kids of all ages.  Shake them up and watch as the glitter falls to the bottom of the jar.  They make great holiday and Christmas gifts and the materials are easy to find.

What you will need:

1 small jar with a tight lid

1 or more plastic decorations that you will use to make a scene at the bottom of the jar

Glitter

Superglue

Ribbon and Lace

Directions:

Use the superglue to glue the plastic decorations to the inside lid of the small jar.  Be sure there is enough room around the edge of the lid so the lid and decorations fit inside the jar when you screw the jar onto the lid.  Fill the jar with water but not all the way to the top.  You need to leave enough room for the glitter and the plastic decorations.  Use 1 teaspoon of glitter for every inch of water in the jar.  Screw on the lid, you can glue the lid in place as well to prevent curious kids from trying to take it off.  Glue lace around the lid and glue the ribbon to the lace to help hide the lid.

2.  Holiday Place Mats Using Old Christmas and Holiday Cards

We all have old Christmas or Holiday cards around the house that can be used for this fun activity for kids. 

What you will need:

12 or more old Christmas or Holiday cards

Scissors

Glue

11 x 17 sheet of construction paper

Directions:

Cut out the holiday scenes and other pictures on the old Christmas cards. on the 11 x 17 piece of construction paper.  Arrange them into a collage on the 11 x 17 piece of construction paper.  Glue the pictures down and document on the back of the place mat the child’s name, age and date before laminating.  These place mats make great gifts.

3.  Popsicle Stick Photo Ornament

Kids can learn how to build their own popsicle stick photo ornament with this fun arts and crafts activity.

What you will need:

4 Popsicle sticks

Markers or Paint

Photo

Yarn or String

Glue

Construction paper

Directions:

Color all popsicle sticks with markers or paint and allow to completely dry before proceeding to the next step.  Cut the photo to the desired shape and lay the popsicle sticks to frame the photo shape.  When you are satisfied with the design, glue the sticks to the photo and trim as needed.  You can increase the layout size of your photo by gluing it down to a piece of construction paper first then trim to any desired shape.  Loop a piece of yarn or string and glue it to the frame.

4.  Macaroni Garland

Create fun macaroni garlands for holiday decorations at home or the classroom.

What you will need:

Macaroni Noodles with holes

Fishing Line

Food Coloring

Vinegar

Small Bells

Small Disposable Bowls

Directions:

The first thing to do is color the macaroni noodles.  Divide the macaroni noodles into as many different bowls as you would like different colored noodles.  Mix 1/2 tsp of Vinegar with a few drops of food coloring and color the noodles in each bowl to the desired color.  Spread noodles on a cookie sheet to dry.  Cut the fishing line to the desired length and tie a small bell to one end of the line.  String the noodles onto the fishing line and tie another small bell to the other end of the line to complete the garland.
