Arizona Extravaganza:  Touring Arizona from north to south and every place in between!

10 days TOTALLY immersed in birds and birding.

PICK YOUR DATES!!!

 Starting in Phoenix, we will head to the White Mountains north of Phoenix for the upper elevation specialties. . . Blue Grouse, Three-toed Woodpecker, Williamson’s and Red-naped Sapsuckers, Pine Grosbeak, Red Crossbills. 2 days.

From here we drive through the western edge of New Mexico on our way to Portal, AZ and the Chiricahua Mountains to bask in the specialties of this area. . . Mexican Chickadee, Elegant Trogon, Arizona Woodpecker, Red-faced Warbler, Juniper Titmouse, Olive Warbler

The Huachucas is next. Hummingbirds dancing everywhere. 8 species guaranteed. . . 15 possible. Buff-breasted Flycatcher, Band-tailed Pigeon, Elegant Trogon. Spotted Owl 2 days.

The Patagonia area offers lots of birds and we will try to see them all. Thick-billed Kingbirds, Tropical Kingbirds, Rose-throated Becard, Black-capped Gnatcatchers, Violet-crowned Hummingbird. 1 day

Catalina Mountains in the morning for the Mountain Chickadee and Pygmy Nuthatches.  Huge flocks of Nuthatches with lots of warblers mixed in. 

We will take the morning off for preparation to head to California Gulch. This area offers us owls and the Five-striped Sparrow and quite possibly the Buff-collared Nightjar. WOW! A late night.

Working our way back to Phoenix, we will look for Black-chinned Sparrows, Juniper Titmouse, Gray Vireo,  Zone-tailed Hawk, Mississippi Kite ending our day near the airport.

This trip typically yields a total of between 225 and 250 species.

Total cost at $2295.00 includes Breakfast and Lunch, Lodging, entrance fees,  and ground transportation from Phoenix or Tucson.  The single supplement is $350.00.  You are responsible for your evening meal.
