Science cannot reproduce what God has made perfect! Formula is not the answer for your babies! Please read about a recall on baby formula made by the trusted Nestle Corporation. Nestle Recalls Baby Milk From 4 Nations - By BRADLEY S. KLAPPER, Associated Press Writer Tuesday, November 22, 2005
(11-22) 12:29 PST GENEVA, Switzerland (AP) -- Nestle SA, the world's biggest food company, said Tuesday it has recalled hundreds of thousands of gallons of baby milk from France, Portugal, Spain and Italy after traces of ink from the packaging were found in the product. Nestle spokesman Francois-Xavier Perroud said the substance posed no health risk. Routine tests in Italy in the fall had revealed presence of isopropylthioxanthone in its Latte Mio and Nidina 1 and 2 milk brands, he said. Perroud said most milk, up to 530,000 gallons, was recalled in Italy, and "much smaller" amounts in France, Spain and Portugal. "We are sad that the packaging material that we bought from a reliable source did not live up to the standards that we expect," Perroud told The Associated Press. "We are replacing every single (contaminated) product that you can lay your hands on." He said the baby milk was packaged in Spain. "This decision was taken as an extreme precautionary measure to reassure consumers even if, based on the declarations of the packaging supplier and a rigorous analysis of available facts also conducted by independent bodies, Nestle believes that the level of ITX measured in the tested products does not represent a health risk," the company said. Cristina Attina, an official with forest rangers which oversee food safety regulations in Italy, said a batch of milk due to expire in September 2006 had been contaminated by a chemical that leaked from the packaging. Authorities in Italy had earlier said they about 8 million gallons of baby milk confiscated, but Perroud denied the reports. Nestle Italy said it had withdrawn the milk in question from the Italian market and that new liquid milks using alternative packages have since been distributed. Nestle shares closed down 0.7 percent at 395.50 Swiss francs ($299.76) on the Zurich exchange. _____ Associated Press correspondent Marta Falconi contributed to this report from Rome.
I want to, once again, thank Dr. Joseph Mercola for sending this information to all of his faithful readers because it is VITAL information we do not learn from most major media outlets because of sponsorship contracts ... MONEY!
Janet Talmadge, IBCLC, has written an article entitled, Just One Bottle. You will be surprised at the affects of one bottle of formula to baby and mother.Just one bottle of formula... Did you know… ...That just one bottle can have serious consequences for both mother and baby? Unfortunately it is very easy to give a breastfed baby "just one bottle of formula" and the reasons for giving the bottle often show concern and compassion. For example: - Letting the mother have a well-deserved rest after a long delivery.
- Settling a hungry baby who is difficult to feed or calm.
- Giving the mother's sore nipples a rest.
- Raising a baby’s low blood sugar in the hospital.
But studies have shown that "just one bottle of formula" can be harmful to both mother and baby by: - Increasing the likelihood of serious allergy to cow's milk protein. Formula is like any other drug; it is a foreign protein to the newborn’s gut.
- Increasing the chance of bowel infection and diarrhea by changing the pH of the bowel. It may take up to one month to return to normal, safer levels.
- Causing nipple confusion, flow confusion or flow preference. Bottles and breasts don’t feel the same in the baby’s mouth, nor do they flow at the same rates.
- Affecting the delicate supply and demand balance. Delays in feeding at the breast will result in a decrease in production of mother’s milk.
- Increasing engorgement by not emptying the breasts.
- Decreasing a mother's confidence in her ability to feed her baby.
- Reducing the duration of breastfeeding.
- Increasing expectations of an infant for “more”.
- Changing the infant’s suck (may not be as effective at breastfeeding).

The following excerpt was written by Veronika Robinson, Editor, The Mother magazine ~ as seen on Richard and Judy, Channel Four, February 1st, 2006 The worldwide average for weaning is 4 years and 2 months of age.I'm no mathematician, but I can assure you that you don't get an average like that if the majority of people are weaning at 6 months of age. There are so many benefits to breastfeeding and the consumption of breastmilk. I am all too aware that the average person on the street knows next to nothing about breastmilk, and that is why, in Britain, we have such appalling breastfeeding rates. Many people assume formula is an appropriate alternative to breastmilk, no different perhaps than if they were to choose Pepsi over Coke. Breast milk is a living food. It is constantly changing as the mother's body scans the environment for dangerous pathogens. Her body adapts and produces milk to build her child's body in the way no other food can. No two mothers have the same breastmilk. No mother produces the same milk twice. It is constantly changing to suit the needs of the child. Formula milk is static!! Formula is not a living food. It cannot build the brain or the immune system. When babies are fed from a bottle, they are denied their birthright to develop right and left hand/eye coordination; the building up of oro-facial muscles which can only happen when extracting milk from a breast; the warmth of giving and receiving from mother to child. A bottle, a dummy ~ these are no replacements for the love and comfort of a warm, comforting breast. The human needs to suck. But it needs to suck at the human breast to have this need met fully. The consequences of not doing this are many. It may be as simple as sucking a thumb, or could manifest later in the shape of cigarette smoking, food addictions, etc. Animal milks are made for animal babies. Cow's milk is designed to build a calf's body very quickly. Goat's milk is designed for a kid. These words are music to me! ~Melissa |
