Study Management of Professionals: Insights for Maximizing Cooperation.  This one book that gives a balanced treatment to “Leadership in Management”.
There are  three chapters specifically on management competencies:
 
-Chapter 2, “Planning and Forecasting”

-Chapter 4. “Directing and Controlling
