Tour Choir The 75- voice tour choir consists of singers in the 5th - 9th grades who demonstrate advanced abilities in choral singing and music reading. Our nationally recognized Tour Choir is currently directed under the supervision of Ms. Janeal Krehbiel. Ms. Krehbiel is scheduled to retire from the LCC Tour Choir in March of 2012. Our March 11, 2012 Spring Concert will be performed in honor of Ms. Krehbiel's 20 years of artistic direction and guidance. Ms. Carolyn Welch will replace Ms. Krehbiel as Artistic Director for the 2012-2013 Tour Choir season. The choir is a two-semester commitment. Tuition is $640 and is nonrefundable. Additional costs are for uniform, tickets to performances, and any desired professional photos or CD recordings. Over the past 20 seasons, LCC Tour Choir members have been privileged to perform for many prestigious events. In March 2009 the choir was invited to sing at the American Choral Conductor's Association 50th annual conference in Oklahoma, with a premier performance of an arrangement by Eric Whitacre. In June of 2009, the choir toured and performed through the Baltic countries of Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia. The 2009-2010 season ended with several paid performances and a fun-filled tour through our home state, witnessing both the beauty and the quirks of Kansas. Our repertoire featured American masterpieces and we explored how our history and culture have influenced our musical traditions.
The LCC Tour Choir celebrated its 20th anniversary of sharing and fostering the gift of song and music during the 2010-2011 season. This past season included an alumni concert of past and present LCC Tour Choir members, performances and music direction from alumnus and guest artist, Gabriel Lewis-O'Connor, and a recording with local singer-songwriter , Kelley Hunt, "Outside for a Better Inside." Our 20th anniversary season will conclude in the Pacific Northwest where the LCC Tour Choir will perform in Vancouver, British Columbia and Seattle, Washington. Here's what past tour choir members have said about their experiences with LCC: "LCC was one of the most amazing experiences I have ever had and will have. This choir will be a part of me forever. It has changed me for the better. Without LCC I might still be a shy girl who is afraid to let her voice be heard. Here's to Song." -Julia Price "Little did I know that that first scary audition was the beginning of a long musical journey. The LCC staff has inspired me never to stop singing and I am so grateful for the training I received." -Catherine Norwood LCC Tour Choir Members' Area
