Choristers
Rehearsals: Choral Room
The Choristers is a beginning-level training choir for children in 3rd – 6th grade. In this choir, the fundamentals of choral singing are presented and the process of learning to read notes and rhythms is begun. Head voice tone and accurate pitch reproduction are stressed. The goal of Choristers is to introduce and practice the following concepts, with the goal of attaining vocal independence: Choral Music Education ·Introduction to solfege ·Vowel unification and production ·Consonant articulation ·Pronunciation ·Vocal registers: head voice, middle voice, chest voice ·Pitch matching & tonal memory ·Ear-training & listening skills ·Musical reading skills, phrasing, dynamics & tempo variation
Performance Techniques ·Posture, stance and breathing technique ·Open, relaxed throat ·Mental focus and proper rehearsal technique ·Expressivity through facial expression and body movement ·Good manners & respect for others ·Introduction to foreign languages & poetry The Choristers is a two-semester commitment. First semester starts on Tuesday, September 1, 2009 and every Tuesday thereafter until the fall concert on November 15, 2009. Second semester will begin on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 and every Tuesday thereafter until the Spring Concert on March 6, 2010. Tuition is $260 and is nonrefundable. Additional costs are for uniform, tickets to performances, and any desired professional photos, DVD or CD recordings. Scholarships are available for Choristers members who qualify.
