Koforidua Sectech School

John K. Bimpong was born on September 1953 at Akwatia. He started schooling at Akwatia Roman Catholic Schol and completed at Effiduase Roman Catholic School in 1968. After completing he was posted to a village called Noyem near Koforidua in the Eatern Region as a head teacher at the age of 19 years. While in his final year at the training college, he wrote the GCE O'level exams as a private candidate and passed six subjects. Whiles teaching as a head teacher, he wrote the GCE A'level exams and passed in four subjects.

In 1977, he gained admission to the University of Cape Coast to read Sociology, Geography and Economic. He majored in Economics. After he graduated in 1981, he was posted to Ghana Secondary School in Koforidua to teach Economics where he taught for seventeen years.

In September 1998, he was posted to the St. Francis Secondary Technical School at Oda as a headmaster. In February 2004, he was again transferred to Koforidua Secondary Technical School where he is currently the headmaster.

Asked about his plans for the school, Mr. J.K Bimpong says he plans to make Sectech one of the best four schools in the whole country in four years time. He admits meeting a lot of problems on assuming office, some of which are weak financial standing, division among the staff members, leakages in the dining hall and dormitories, just to mention a few. With his good leadership qualities, he has been able to solve some of the problems. He however, shares the notion that the school only be among the best four through humility, hard-work, discipline and dedication to duty.

He admits that before coming to Sectech, he had heard a lot about the school. He has however seen a completely different Sectech with disciplined students and dedicated teachers.Sectech students, as he sees them are even more disciplined than students in some other schools. With regards to sports, he hopes with the current resources the school has, it would build a more formidable team in all the sporting disciplines to further enhance the school's image in the area of sports to maintain it's enviable position in the country.

His final message to all Sectechans is that success comes only through discipline, hard work and dedication. He also reminds all students that their only aim is to pass their exams with good grades therefore they should aim at that and forgo other pleasures which could ruin their future.
