DINING HALL PREFECTS' REPORT
"One way to keep a man off his feet is to put a heavy responsibility on his shoulders". When the mantle
of office was handed over to us on 13th June, 2004, it was a big challenge for us to continue the good work done
by our predecessors.
W
e assumed full duty right from the onset as our predecessors were freashly preparing towards the SSCE. Our tenure
of office was marked by a high sense of discipline in the dining hall which for many years has never been seen despite
the few lapses such as the long time spent at the the dining hall. Cutlery sets, plates, and dressing was well checked.
Noise making and scattering of food which was seen before in the dining hall completely stopped during our term of
office. "Bow for the first grace", the prayer said before and at the end of meals was obeyed by all students irrespective of the form.
We also ensured that food was not taken out of the dining hall after meals.
A strict measure was taken to stop lateness and time wasting. Immediately it is time for dining, five minutes after the bell has been rung,
all doors would be locked whereby food will be served. In this sense the quality and quantity of food improved tremendously.
The pleas of students were considered and the menu was changed for the first time in the history of Sectech. Fruits such as pineapples,
oranges, and apples were served which made the food more balanced. That we can say is a great achievement during our term
of office. The dining tables were covered with foam-maker boards. As it is said, "cleanliness is next to Godliness",
the sweeping and weeding of the dining hall was well done which kept the dining hall so neat and beautiful at the center
of the school.
However, we must acknowledge that indeed it was God Almighty who saw us through. Thanks to the dining hall masters for their diverse
help and support. To the matrons and the seniorhouse master, we say that they have been the backbone of our successful reign.
To the incoming dining hall prefects, we say more grease to your elbows. May God bless and guide you.
