2006 Napa Valley Merlot

We are delighted to re-introduce our first Merlot in years. This fruit was sourced from two different vineyards in Napa, one on the valley floor and one in the Eastern hills of Napa. The wine was bin fermented with an extended maceration that gives a dark, rich color to the wine. The wine was aged in French oak, just 20% new so that the oak is softly integrated in the nose and mouth. This is a serious merlot� the aromas of dark red fruits, roses and well integrated oak lead into a mouth of full, rounded tannins and roasted cherries. The lingering mouth finishes with tobacco and dark chocolate. This wine really compliments the proteins in beans. Try this with dishes such as Carne Asada and beans, Cassoulet and, of course rare, grilled meats.
