The idea to make a movie about this event came from Lannette Pabon. She and her husband, Ross Schwartz, were wine aficionados who decided to take a shot at writing their first screenplay. They had spent a lot of time in California wine country and had interviewed Chateau Montelena’s Jim and Bo Barrett, Stags Leap Wine Cellar’s Warren Winiarski, Grgich Hills’ Mike Grgich, and GustavoThrace’s Gustavo Brambila.
The BOTTLE SHOCK team had to do a major scheduling dance to accommodate Freddy Rodriguez’s Ugly Betty shooting commitments. But they knew that Rodriguez was the perfect actor to play Gustavo Brambila.
