Dr. Herbert I. Fusfeld is Chairman of The Fusfeld Group, Inc., specializing in strategic development and technology management for corporations. In addition he is the immediate past Director and Founder of the Center for Science and Technology Policy in the School of Management, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Dr. Fusfeld, was Director of Research at Kennecott Cooper Corporation (1963 - 1978). Previously, he was Director of Research for the American Machine and Foundry (1953 - 1963) and head of the Physics and Mathematics Division, Frankford Arsenal.
He is a former president of the Industrial Research Institute (IRI). Dr. Fusfeld is the coeditor of the book series Technology Policy and Economic Growth, and author of The Technical Enterprise (Ballinger, spring 1986) and Industry’s Future: Changing Patterns of Industrial Research (ACS, 1994).
His most significant previous books are listed below. He also has written and lectured extensively on many aspects of R&D, innovation and the multi-national corporation in a changing world.

Dr. Fusfeld’s many professional and government activities have included membership on the U.S.-USSR Joint Commission for Scientific and technical Cooperation; the Advisory Group on Technology and Economic Growth at OECD; and the Advisory Council of the National Science Foundation. He has also served on the Governing Board of the American Institute of Physics and the National Materials Advisory Board.
