Daryl Hackbarth Is a Senior Associate of The Fusfeld Group, joining in 1999 after more than 36 years of experience in the chemical specialty industry. Most of this time was spent with S. C. Johnson & Son, Inc., known as S.C. Johnson Wax. Prior to retirement, he was Corporate Vice President & Global Director-R&D for the Professional Products Division. His broad background includes assignments in Strategic Planning, Business Planning, New Product Planning & Development, Technology Assessment & Acquisition, and R&D Management of both Consumer Product and I&I Product organizations.
His technology management experiences include the following contributions:
- Re-engineered the R&D and Business Development organizations to accelerate growth in new product development and commercialization.
- Demonstrated results in developing unique new products, implemented portfolio and project tracking, developed effective R&D strategies and increased R&D productivity.
- Delivered successful new products for both the consumer and institutional markets, which achieved $500+ million in new business.
- Managed the Consumer/Marketing/R&D interface to translate the ‘voice of the customer’ into finished products with a demonstrable market advantage.
- Negotiated supplier alliances in Japan and the USA that provided market advantage.
Mr. Hackbarth has been a member of the Industrial Research Institute (IRI), a Director of the Chemical Specialty Manufacturers Association (CSMA), and a Director of the Soap & Detergent Association (SDA). He is also a member of the American Chemical Society (ACS) and the American Society for Testing & Materials (ASTM). In addition, he has a wide range knowledge in the following areas: aerosols, surfactants, emulsions, biocides, insecticides, acrylic polymers, coatings and delivery systems.
He attended Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Master of Science in Polymer Chemistry.
