Hat Care
Care… Let your hat care for you --
wear it gladly in the wind, rain and snow! Then, store uncrushed in the air. Spot clean or soak 30 min in one Tbs shampoo (after all, wool is the sheep's hair and prefers the same hair-washing conditions we do) in lukewarm water. You may follow with a small amount of creme rinse if you like. Rinse gently several times to remove shampoo or creme rinse; do not agitate. Wring in a terrycloth towel or use the last spin cycle of your washer. Do NOT tumble dry. Reshape on your head in front of a mirror and dry. Originally the hat was steamed to set the shape; because of this the hat'll be willing to be coaxed back to its original set shape. Colors are light- and wash-fast.
Materials… Hand-dyed or naturally colored choice sheep's wool, embellished with yarn, Wensleydale wool or mohair locks, cut felt or silk. Fleeces are scoured, dyed "in the wool" then carded and blended. No two are quite alike--you will be wearing a truly singular item.
