Helpful hints and sites

This page is under construction.

Here are a few sites I have been looking at for years now. They just about cover A to Z on a bully. All these sites will take you outside my site.

If your bully has any type of mange I hear this stuff works!!!  www.nustock.com/

#1 Find a veterinarian that is well experienced with english bulldogs. This is very important, and could be a life saver.

Never give your bully RAWHIDES, PIG EARS, OR HOOVES, OR ANY THING THEY CAN SWALLOW  WHOLE!!! Bulldogs can, and have choked to death when chewing these. The giant beef bone, or giant beef knuckle bones, are really good for them to chew when their bored.  They will also help keep their teeth healthy.

Never leave your bully pup without supervision..Someone may steal your baby, or he, or she could eat something harmful or get hurt.  However I do recommend using, and traning your bully to a doggy door if you have a 6 ft fenced in yard.  But I have heard of people having their babies stolen from their back yard with a 6 ft fence.

I Do not recommend crating your bully unless it's a have to situation. I only have one box dog, but he was like that when I got him. I leave the tv on for them when I'm gone. This helps comfort them..I've learned from experience over the years to leave the tv on, and nothing was chewed up..And my bullys were all happy to see me when I got back home after work.

Your bully should also be kept in a comfortable setting. Usually around 75 degrees year round. Bullys can NOT take the heat for very long peroids. It really depends on where you live, and  humidity conditions about the temp a bully can stand.

Never let any VET put your pup under for any type of surgery unless it's a life threatening condition. (broken leg etc) Bully pups are more likely to not wake up if the are put under..Then there is the anthesia issue to..The wrong one used can kill your pup. I can't sit here, and say 8 or 9 months old is even old enough. I have had surgeries done on young pups, but it was my loss if anything did happen to one.. Like if they had a hernia..I will not sell a pup with one before I have it fixed. Which all come out of my pocket..

Do NOT freak out if  your bully gets, or has a cherry eye.. It  is not a life threatening condition, and may occur sometime during it's life. Some do, and some don't ever have a cherry eye. In some cases one may look swollen one day, and gone the next.  But if it has not gone away in a week, or so you may need to go see a vet. They can give you an ointment to put in it's eye to keep him, or her comfortable until he, or she is old enough to have it removed. I have only had one with a cherry eye. Removing it is really the best option. Tucking can, or will come undone somewhere down the line... So there is just more money spent when it could have been fixed the first time. But there is a chance of dry eye if having it removed. Mine did just fine, and had no problems what so ever. I have bully friends that have told me their experiences with tucking, and it just didn't work for them.  I have even been told a  young lady took her pup to a vet, and the vet killed her pup trying to fix the cherry eye at 4 months of age.  AGAIN I stress do not throw your pup in an operating room over a cherry eye!! Only if it's  a life threatening condition should yor pup be put under!!!

YOUR BULLY AND ALLERGIES...Allergies in bulldogs are common, but not every bully will have an allergy problem durring it's life..Allergies can be from flea bites, weeds, grass, food products, weed & feed for your lawn to kill the weeds can, and will cause an outbreak. All can, or will result in hair loss in patches from head to tail, and, or hot spots, or a bad rash. I found this one out on my own, and racked my brain for a long time.  Until I decided it was the weed &  feed I had used that year, and not the year before..I did give this bully benadryl. It took away the temp, panting, and the pacing the floors, but not the rash. He did have to have a steroid shot ,and was better in just a few days. Now more problem for the rest of that spring. So the next year I did not use the weed & feed, and the case was solved. Most allergy problems will start to appear during the spring, or fall months. If they appear during the winter, or summer months it may be the feed, treats or any other foods you are giving you bully.. Try changing his, or her foods, and treats. Foods to avoid are foods with soybean products. They tend to have a reaction to some soy products, and soybeans is the number one on the list.. There is no need to freak out about an allergic reaction unless your dog is running a temp..Which he, or she will be panting, and pacing the floor. GIVE YOUR BULLY SOME BENADRYL!!!! 2 tabs in some peanut butter, cheese, or what ever you can put the pills in that they will eat, and put him, or her in a bathtub of cold water for a few minites, or until they stop panting. If the resume the panting, and pacing after the cool bath get to a vet ASAP!!! Not the next day right then!! The Benadryl will usually stop the panting, and temp quickly. My vet told me I could give them up to 3, or more pills if the first 2 don't work with in about 30 minutes just give him, or her one more. Chances are your bully will be fine once you get the benadryl down them. I'm lucky I have only had one bully with these allergy problems from grass, weeds, and even food..But then again I'm real picky about where, or whom I get a bully from if I need one.

More info coming soon.. Thanks for reading my info. Hope it helps you. I can not guarantee any, or all  these facts will help you, but I can just tell you what I have learned over the years with this one bully, and the allergy problems he has had.
