Brighten my World Christian Child Care

Brighten my World serves nutritious meals daily.  The children are offered plenty of milk, fruits, vegetables, breads and meats.  You can be certain that your child will be fed good meals and we are advocates against "junk" foods.

I can remember a time when I did not offer breakfast.  Children would be dropped off eating donuts, McDonalds or whatever the parents could hurry up and feed their child.  There was a child that would be dropped off with a bowl of oatmeal.  As the person responsible for the care of the children throughout the day it was time for me to serve breakfast, lunch and snacks. I have asked parents not to sent the children to the daycare eating foods.  The child is able to sit at the table and eat, without rushing, a nutritious meal.  This is good.  BMW is a membera of The Child Care Food Program.

The Child Care Food Program is funded by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) for the purpose of providing nutritious meals and promoting healthy eating habits for children in a child care environment. Licensed Child Care Homes and Trust Lined Providers (under certain circumstances) may participate.

Children receive nutritious, well-balanced meals and develop healthy eating habits. Child care providers receive a cash reimbursement for serving meals that meet the nutritional requirements set by the USDA.

The meals and snacks served must meet USDA requirements. This simply means that food must be served from the four food groups: milk, meat, bread and fruits/vegetables. The amount of food served depends on the age of the child.

This program provides nutrition information, recipes, workshops and training materials. Staff provide assistance and training to parents and providers.
