de la Houssaye Animal Hospital Puppy Program

The following schedule is recommended by the de la Houssaye Animal Hospital for all new puppies. We may adjust this schedule according to the presentation of the puppy.

1. Parasite check and/or deworming at 3 weeks of age.

2. Parasite check, 1st distemper/parvo vaccination,1st bordatella vaccination deworming and start heartworm prevention at 6 weeks of age.

3. 2nd distemper/parvo vaccination, 2nd bordatella vaccination, possibly a deworming at 9 weeks of age.

4. 3rd distemper/parvo vaccination, 3rd bordatella vaccination, rabies vaccination at 12 weeks of age.

5. 4th distemper/parvo vaccination, 4th bordatella vaccination, female spay or male neuter at 16 weeks of age.

The de la Houssaye Animal Hospital Recommends:

A. Triheart once a month heartworm prevention.

B. Frontline Top Spot or Capstar for flea control.

C. Tail docking if desired at 3-5 days of age.

D. Ear cropping if desired betweent 12-16 weeks of age. This can be done at time of spay or neuter.

E. Science Diet puppy food followed by Science Diet maintenance food after 1 yr. of age with changes in diet based on individual needs.

de la Houssaye Animal Hospital Kitten Program

The following schedule is recommended by the de la Houssaye Animal Hospital for all new kittens. We may adjust this schedule according to the presentation of the kittens.

1. Parasite check and/or deworming at 3 weeks of age.

2. Parasite check, 1st DRTCA vaccination, deworming, feline leukemia/feline aids combination test, start heartworm prevention at 6 weeks of age.

3. 2nd DRTCA vaccination, 1st feline leukemia vaccination if negative, possibly a deworming at 9 weeks of age.

4. 3rd DRTCA vaccination, rabies, 2nd feline leukemia vaccination if negative at 12 weeks of age.

5. 4th DRTCA vaccination, female spay or male neuter at 16 weeks of age.

The de la Houssaye Animal Hospital Recommends:

A. Heartgard heartworm prevention for cats.

B. Frontline Top Spot and Capstar for flea prevention.

C. Declawing if desired before 6 months of age.

D. Science Diet kitten food till 1 yr of age followed by Science Diet maintainance with changes in diet based on individual needs.
