SUMMER FRENCH COURSE OFFERING !!

 

 

In addition to its regular sequence of classes, offered each year in the fall, winter, and spring, the Alliance Française is pleased to offer a special Summer Course for 2009 at the very interesting price of $ 125.00.  Beginning, intermediate, and advanced sessions are offered at our convenient Green Hills location.  See details below.

    


Alliance Française Summer 2009 Course Offerings:  ADAPTATIONS!

August 3-26, 2009

Three seminar-style courses featuring texts in French and their film adaptations.

1.      Beginning Level (for students who have completed at least 2 years at the Alliance Française; one year of college-level French; 3 years of high school French):  Our text will be Le Fantôme de l’Opéra (1911), by Gaston Leroux.  We will read and discuss pages as assigned.  Grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation exercises will supplement the text where applicable.  The course will culminate with a viewing of the film adaptation at the final class meeting.   Begins Monday, August 3, 2009, 6P-8P* at the Alliance Française. $125.00 (text and all materials included)

 

2.      Intermediate Level (for students who have completed at least one year of intermediate classes at the Alliance Française; 1-2 years of college-level French; 4+ years of high school French; heritage speakers/learners):  Our text will be Le Passe-Muraille (1943), by Marcel Aymé.  We will read and discuss pages as assigned.  Grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation exercises will supplement the text where applicable.  The course will culminate with a viewing of the film adaptation at the final class meeting. Begins Tuesday, August 4, 2009, 6P-8P* at the Alliance Française.  $125.00 (text and all materials included)

 

3.      Advanced Level (for students who have completed 1-2 years of intermediate-advanced classes at the Alliance Française; 2+ years of college-level French; heritage and native speakers):  Our text will be Le Tartuffe (1664), by Moliere.  We will read and discuss pages as assigned.  Grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation exercises will supplement the text where applicable.  The course will culminate with a viewing of the film adaptation at the final class meeting.   Begins Wednesday, August 5, 2009, 6P-8P* at the Alliance Française.   $125.00 (text and all materials included)

 

*All classes will meet once a week for 2 hours for the first 3 sessions.  The final (4th) session will be 3 hours to accommodate the time needed for the film. 

These classes are open to the general public but class size is limited to 10 paid registrants.  Students are welcome to call the instructor for further information.

 

 

Where:   Alliance Française de Nashville Resource Center, 2000 Glen Echo Road, Suite 109, conveniently located next to the Green Hills Post Office.
