Discussion of the Indian shuffle and other gaits
-
We have added this discussion topic because of interest in the Indian Shuffle and other intermediate gaits. This area can be used to discuss the various gaits, give training suggestions, talk about conformation as it relates to gait, discuss gaited bloodlines, or any other related topics. As always, please make comments in a friendly, family oriented manner. Thanks, and we look forward to learning more together!

Hello, I love your gaited Appaloosas!
I have a mare that does a slow shuffle and is it smooth... She is getting older and is raising foals so we don't ride her anymore.
I have back trouble and would love to have a Tiger Horse!
Would love to purchase (adopt) your wonderful stallion.... or the filly you have for sale by him.
I think the Tiger's will become more and more popular as time goes by. The ApHC should have classes for the gaited Apps. Again, love your Tigers! Happy Trails, Ava McAbee

I feel at a loss as I have a paint that has the indian shuffle but everything I read is all about the appaloosas. As she is pedigreed way back I'm not sure where she may have gotten it, someone must have snuck into a paddock somewhere. Do you know of any Paint horse shufflers who are breeding for this gait?

I just recently bought an unregistered app (solid as his dad's a QH, I actually was interested in him because of his Two Eyed Jack lines). The first time I rode him I fell in love with his smooth gaits. Our first time out on the trail, I noticed he was doing something that could not be a walk because of the speed, but it was not a trot either. I started looking up all the info I could on the Indian Shuffle, your site is very informative!! He does have a head nod when he is doing this, I will have to ride him a bit more to try to identify exactly what he is doing. I look forward to it as it's very comfortable, but the drawback is that I am leaving my other friends horses in the dust!! I saw a post where it was mentioned that most gaited horses came from Ulrich lines, I am unfamiliar with Appaloosa lines so was looking for them on my gelding's dam's side. Her registered name is Sparkle Charm, by ENR's Wapiti Scamp and Sally's Charm. Grandsire on top side is Wapiti's Haunta and grandsire on bottom side is Rasmusson Comanche. Does this ring any bells with anyone as far as any of these horses being gaited? I sure feel lucky to have come across this little surprise, his previous owners had never heard of the Indian Shuffle.

Last year we were fortunate to purchase the Indian Shuffler stallion, SA Hinhanska. We have a couple of mares that shuffle, so we're hoping to enlarge our shuffling gene pool in our herd through him. I've been researching, via the internet, for shuffling bloodlines and came across this website that has quite a gene pool listing: www.indianspirithorses.com/aboutthe.html. Thought others might be interested.

Enter your message here.Yours is the first I've come across about the Indian Shuffle. I read 10 years ago or more that it's not an Appaloosa without it. I have one article about the shuffle, which I'll send to you, when I find it. I need to learn more about seeing it. Once you've ridden it, you know.
