Subject british versus canadian appaloosas

Date Mon Aug 30 2004 09:37
Author Anne (eahotson@hotmail.com)

Went to our northern show yesterday. Saw Canadian appaloosa there which was definately a different type to ours. Was told that Canadians breed very true to type.I have an appaloosa though which although unregistered looks like an old faishoned type appaloosa. Our more modern ones are moving towards sports horse type.I bought mine for his gentle and very genuine temperament. To British non appaloosa eyes appys look a little strange. Legs close together in front, not huge paces and small. What do you think of the advantages of the canadian appaloosa oh! and are they suitable, with training for British style dressage? Cant find a western trainer near me.
